Suzanne and Wade did what many couples do and decided to get married abroad. Both love the outdoors and Austria in particular and chose the small village of St Johann in the Austrian Tirol. Having holidayed myself in St Johann I knew exactly why that had chosen such a beautifully unspoilt part of Austria to get married in. This year however there has been very little snow in Europe and 1 week before the wedding St Johann was green, no snow , very little skiing, it wasn’t until the day or so before the wedding that the area got a huge dump of snow and the white winter wedding was on.
I really enjoy photographing abroad, it makes a nice change and the challenges of destination weddings are always there, logistics and gear worries are always in the back of my mind, but once there all of those worries disappear when you have such beautiful views and light.
The evening entertainment had to be some of the funniest Ive seen in 10 years of wedding photography, Bogan Bingo hail from Australia, live and work in London. They fill a pub in Fulham with 150 people every Thursday night with a game of Bingo…These guys are so funny, rude yes, but funny, they had all the guests in stitches with their act and even DJ’d at the evening reception. If you ever get a chance to go and see them you will not be disappointed.
The entertainment went on long into the evening, I left at 3.00am, had an interesting taxi journey back to my hotel and arrived back in London on the Sunday. Congratulations to Suzanne and Wade, who are now honeymooning in Argentina, enjoy your road trip.
