Wow, I am a bit overwhelmed by the emails and reactions I have had to documenting the day of Simon, Rachel and Riley. Many people were asking if its a service I offer and I have booked another 2 days for past bride and grooms who either had or have since had children.

Ive had to sit down and work out the actual details of this servive, but suffice to say that it will be a minimum of 8 hours coverage and clients will be looking to receive in the region of 400 images. When compared to studio shoots I think the value for money is exceptional, the final product will also be showcased as a slideshow.

I have included the show of some of my favourite images from a day with Riley below. Many thanks for all the lovely comments and interest.

Emma ( January 21, 2009 8:13 pm ) Hi David, Rachel text me today to tell me about the images and i have just viewed them and they are beautiful! What a lovely way to document a very special time! I think this will be very popular indeed!

Riley, A day in the Life

This is a pretty much a new path for me, but I was asked by Simon and Rachel (whose wedding I shot back in Feb 2007) to document a day in their life. Of course I was thrilled to be asked and started looking into children photography a bit more. What I noticed was that there are so many studios out there that photograph the family in front of either a white or mottled background, normally asking the parents and children to do absurd things, and then selling individual images at extortionate prices. So I spent 8 hours with Simon, Rachel and Riley and went about the task of shooting images that reflected them and their personalities. We went to the beach and an animal farm and then just chilled at home, along the way we stopped off at a local pub, where the owners tried to kill me by serving me raw chicken, but overall it was a great day, a great experience for me and I think I got some lovely images. Its such a memorable keepsake, and in years to come will be something that I hope both Simon and Rachel will really treasure, its real images like these that will remind us of our children when our memories fade.

So, here are few from our/their day.

Simon, Rachel & Riley ( February 3, 2009 12:09 am ) David, Thanks for a great day we are soo pleased with the images. You have captured the day beautifully and it is such a fantastic way to relive the day, the more we look at them the more it reminds us of the little funny things like almost killing you with Sushi Chicken! and Riley Screaming on the beach! Like our Wedding shots these are something we will treasure forever. Once again you have exceeded our expectations (which were already high after the wedding!)

Sacha Miller ( January 20, 2009 9:59 am ) Hi David, Just wanted to say what a lovely portrait session this is, a wonderful idea and excellent execution. A truly bespoke approach and a refreshing contrast from the avalanche of 'Venture' style photography.

Gemma Henwood ( January 19, 2009 7:16 pm ) fantastic idea. fantastic shots as always. captures every moment perfectly.

Sarah and Ed were married at the end of December and were my last wedding of 2008. I shot 71 weddings last year, all were superb events to be part of and all produced what I think were some stunning images for my couples. Its a real pleasure to be granted access to the most important days of peoples lives and to be asked to photograph it is a huge honour.

Here are some images from their special day

sam ( January 12, 2009 5:54 pm ) the picture of the empty tables is superb, great set!
