Anita and I flew out to Paris to shoot the wedding of Danny and Diana. We set out from Exeter airport at 5.00am and shot for 2 days in and around Paris.
Danny and Diana are from New York and contacted me only about 3 weeks beforehand to arrange us to photograph their day, at that time they did not even have a rabbii or synagogue to hold the ceremony. We arrived in Paris on 6th October and met up with them at their hotel, by this time they had arranged for a rabbii to marry them the following day and so we decided to just hang out in Paris and take in some sites.
The next day Anita and I headed off to the synagogue where we were to meet them, unfortunately, and possibly only in Paris, there was a pro-communism rally that halted traffic in the city centre. The rabbii,a very eccentric Englishman was to take the service, Anita and I spent an hour talking to him regailing stories of ceremonies he has conducted all over the world.
And just to show that France is no different than England it started to rain just as the wedding finished.
Thanks must go to my lovely wife for helping me on both days, being a map reader and carrying my bags can’t have been easy, and also to Danny and Diana for being such a great couple to photograph.
And a special mention to my sister Susan and her husband Patrick for spending the evening with us on Tuesday and congratulations on the birth of Tessa this morning.
Here is the slideshow and images from the 2 days.

Joan Brooks ( October 28, 2008 9:32 pm ) David these photos are amazing!! I'm getting so much pleasure looking at your website - I keep looking at Perry and Katie's regularly and can't help but peek at what you've been up to at other weddings. Is there no end to your talent!!
Emily ( October 26, 2008 11:19 am ) Ooh la la. I have fallen in love with these photos. I think they are your best so far. I only hope you can make Totnes look as amazing as Paris when you do our wedding in May!

sam ( October 23, 2008 1:22 am ) yeah dave, fess up man.
paul ( October 22, 2008 7:48 pm ) c'mon Dave fess up how are you getting your colours soooo good !!!
Orchardleigh House is a beautiful venue, but its dark and the church at the bottom of the hill has no power, is one of the smallest churches I have seen and its exceptionally dark in there. And with C of E rules being as strict as they are this wedding pushed all 3 of my cameras to their extremes. I personally struggle to understand the Church of England’s stance on wedding photographs, at the end of the day we are all vendors for the same wedding, the church are getting paid and to restrict photographers to either stand at the back of the church and not allow photographs to me is mind boggling. no wonder church weddings are falling.
Anyway here is a slideshow from Rayo and Tim’s day, enjoy.
Asian Forex Market ( October 23, 2008 11:49 pm ) I liked reading this thread, thank u for sharing...
paul ( October 20, 2008 11:58 am ) fully agree about the church personnel being restrictive - in my experience the couple can get the permission of the vicar at the pre wedd meet only for him to change his mind at the last minute on the day. Ive stopped asking them now and just get on with it - worse than the vicars are the vergers - I even had one trying to stop me taking pictures during a christening for gods sake. Guess you will be getting a 5D2 to overcome the lo light then !?
